With 25 years as a Human Resources executive and executive coach, JANET SULLIVAN, founder of Planted Leadership brings deep expertise in leadership development, executive coaching, and organizational effectiveness. She partners with senior and mid-level leaders across industries to navigate complex leadership challenges, enhance their executive presence, and lead with clarity and impact.
Janet works with leaders to sharpen their strategic vision, adapt to shifting priorities, build resilience, lean on their strengths and drive teams to success. Her coaching approach supports leaders in refining their leadership style, managing conflict, building credibility and influence, fostering strong teams and balancing the demands of their roles. In addition to leadership coaching, Janet designs and facilitates leadership development programs, cohort-based training, and high-impact leadership retreats. She consults with organizations on talent and succession planning strategies, helping them build strong leadership pipelines and prepare for future growth. She has extensive experience leading Board and leadership team retreats, facilitating candid discussions that enhance team cohesion and alignment. Her work extends to organizational culture transformation, where she advises executives on creating high-performing workplaces.
Janet serves clients in a range of industries; including law firms, where she coaches partners, general counsel, and attorneys; as well as non-profits executives/leaders, and tech leaders. She advises senior HR leaders, policy advisors, and finance executives in the corporate, government and health sectors, helping them navigate leadership transitions and organizational change. She has worked in state level health and human services, banking, finance, media, technology, civil rights, criminal justice, global health and philanthropy.
Janet previously held HR leadership roles in financial services, nonprofit and technology companies, where she managed talent strategies, leadership development frameworks, and organizational effectiveness. She was a governor’s appointee in the state of North Carolina to oversee leadership development and training for the Department of Health and Human Services, with over 17,000 employees. Her ability to blend strategic insight with a deep understanding of leadership dynamics makes her a trusted partner to C-suite executives and leadership teams navigating complex challenges.
Janet is a certified executive coach through Georgetown University’s Transformational Leadership Coaching Program. She holds a Professional Coaching Certification (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF). She also holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Human Resources and a BA in Psychology.
